Re: WebEx problem in ISA2004

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I applied KB916106. This fixed several problems including access to my
router that's in front of my network (without having to plug a laptop
directly into it), delta.com, sun.com, and iTunes. However, the hotfix did
not fix my issue with WebEx.

Well the Rule says it is for "VPN Users to Internal" why is that getting
involved with traffic to WebEx.com which is external?

There isn't really anything I can do with that. The log isn't enough,..I'd
have to physically be there (and I can't). You have to examine the
over-all
config of the ISA,..how the Rules are constructed,..the order they appear
in
the Listing, etc. Only you can do that.

Phillip,

Here's a snipet from my live log. What is the problem?

That method (using a Domain Name Set) is all I have done here and it
works
fine. I just create an object called "Non-Cached Sites" and added
*.webex.com to it along with any other Domain not to cache.
Watch the Live Log and see if anything not related to caching is the
real
cause.

I also found these instructions for ISA 2004. I followed them using a
new
Domain Name Set. It still does not work. Maybe this issue is not my
problem
with WebEx. How do I diagnose?

Jim G

"As far as the "no-cache" thing, this is where it is done.

1. In the Network Objects create either a URL Set or a Domain Name Set
(whichever fits best) that reflects the site(s) in question. (example:
URL
Set http://*.webex.com or Domain Name Set *.webex.com). You
could
even use
Computers, Computer Sets, Address Ranges,...or whatever seems to work
best.

2. Look futher down the ISA MMC Tree and find "Cache". Right-click on
it
and
select New Cache Rule. Give it a useful name. On the Cache Rule
Destination dialog add the Item (or Items) you created in #1 above. On
the
Content Retrieval dialog choose the first item. On the Cache Content
dialog
choose the first one "No content will ever be cached". Finish

Don't forget to click "Apply" in the MMC

I used WebEx as an example because it does in fact have problem with
"web
caching" and it should be exempted from caching if you ever do WebEx
sessions.

I don't use ISA2004, we still use ISA2000, so I have not done this in
practice, I'd be intrested in knowing how it turned out if you follow
that
method.

I've found Phillip Windell's excellent instructions for allowing
WebEx
to
work through ISA2000. How is this done in ISA2004. I just started
having
problems recently. I have SBS2003 SP1 and ISA2004 all fully patched.
