Re: ISA 2004 and Real Player

Now I understand about no proxy and Real Player.
The problem I'm having is that I need to authenticate my users. This is
beacuse we use Websense with ISA. Since we do website filtering by
user/group ISA needs to supply the user name to ISA (hence the requiremt for
ISA authentication). What I would like to accomplish is to selectively
bypass the requiremnt for user authentication when processing Real Player
streaming media requests. Is there any way to do this?
Again thainks for any help on this issue. ...Gary White

(It probably has a place for proxy settings, I don't know, I never use
RealPlayer).

I'm relatively new to ISA and I'm unsure how to get Real Player to not use*not*
the proxy. Can you explain further or point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance. ...Gary White

I've followed your advice and implemented a dual NIC configuration.
problemsconfigured ISA to "let everything through" and I'm still having
Playerplaying Real Player streaming video when we require the user toauthenticate
through ISA. (Note when we don't require ISA authentication Real
tostreaming works.) I think the problem I'm having is summarized in MS
KB288734. Quoting from the article:
"This problem occurs because even though you configure Real Player 8.0
whenuse HTTP proxy under Proxy settings it does not always use Web proxy
receivesconnecting to the Real Player Web site for channel update information. When
this occurs, the direct HTTP request is intercepted by the HTTPapplication
filter and passed on to the Web proxy service. When the Web proxy
anonymousa
request from the HTTP application filter it is only allowed if
noaccess ("Any Request") to HTTP is permitted in the rules. If there is
twosuch
rule, the request is denied."
My problem is that I don't understand how to implement either of the
someoneworkarounds suggested in the KB article. I would appreciate it if
tocould explain how to implement either workaround. I would prefer not
2004.use
ISA's firewall client, but will if I have to. As I see it the general
solution is to some how to selectively turn off the authentication for
selected activities (such as streaming video).
Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.

Here are the system details. ISA 2004 is unihomed and configured as

I've looked at MS KB288734. I think the first part of the article

I've also tried to use RSTP but to no avail.

Is there a way to get this configuration to work?
Thanks in advance for any help with this problem.
