Exchange Instant Messanging through ISA2004

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi,

I have installed a ISA2004 server with two NIC cards and has setup rules for
the users to access the internet. I have applied group policies to force the
users to browse the web through proxy. Now we have a problem when users are
trying to logon to Exchange IM server and was getting an error message "Socks
5 proxy authentication failed. Check the socks 5 settings for username and
password on the connection tab". I have tried to provide the domain login
credentials and was not successfull.

For the above situation the internet access rule was configured in such a
way that only users with domain auth can use the ISA as a resource to access
the internet.

For a work around i have configured a rule to allow unauthenticated access
to the IM website.

Can anyone has faced such situation.

Let me know your suggestions.

Thanks & Regards,
Naveen Kollipara.
