ISA server not on hte local domain!?

Hi,
Ive inhereted a client with thier ISA server running on machine that is not
part of the local domain.
It seems to be running ok but ive yet to configure any rules etc!
Should i join the domain as a member server?
Will it have any effect on the current ISA configuration?
