This is neither ISA nor DNS.
The key to this is the error message:
"Unable to relay for mir@smtp.ourdomain.com"
The mail server is not configured to accept mail for smtp.ourdomain.com.

Howdy, Having recently taken over a network I am trying to iron out some bugs. I am getting an error from outside mail servers when trying to send out a daily newsletter to them via a massmailer tool on a users desktop; ================================== Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. The following recipient(s) could not be reached: someone@adomain.com The e-mail system was unable to deliver the message, but did not report a specific reason. Check the address and try again. If it still fails, contact your system administrator. <mail.ourdomain.com #4.0.0 smtp;450 <mir@smtp.ourdomain.com>: Sender address rejected: undeliverable address: host smtp.ourdomain.com [XXX.XXX.XXX.171 (our IP address)] said: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for mir@smtp.ourdomain.com (in reply to RCPT TO command)> ============================================== All signs point to a DNS issue, but I am just a bit stumped Some background info; - Our network is running 4 external IP addresses. We have smtp.ourdomain.com mapped to xxx.xxx.xxx.171, we also have mail.ourdomain.com mapped to xxx.xxx.xxx.170 - Our MX record is smtp.ourdomain.com (IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.171). - We have granted relay access for this particular client in exchange (95% of the newsletters get through). -The only thing I can see is on the ISA server, the NATing is set to the primary IP address which is the xxx.xxx.xxx.170 address. I am thinking that an easy solution is just to change our primary MX to mail.ourdomain.com (xxx.xxx.xxx.170), but I want a second opinion before I do it. Any suggestions????
