Re: Some clients don't get wpad.dat file

That article also says "In Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2), the Network
Configuration Operators group also has permission to issue DHCP queries."
I've got SP2 and that group is empty, so maybe they have to be added to it?

Ray,

In our setup it is not possible via DNS. WW we have 1 domain, if I add it
via DNS e.g. clients from other sites (use same dns) get the wrong
gateway.

We have the problem also on XP SP2 where the users are administrators of
their PC. FYI, XP SP2 users don't need to be administrator of their PC,
see http://www.microsoft.com/technet/isa/2004/plan/automaticdiscovery.mspx

WPAD via DHCP only works on computers where the end user is a local
administrator. DNS is a much better option but you must be sending the
default DNS suffix in DHCP.

Setup: ISA Server2004 Edge firewall SP2 (just went live with the
following problem) We use Web Proxy clients via wpad.dat provided by
DHCP (windows 2003)

Problem: On some clients the wpad.dat file is not downloaded and they
are not able to surf. I have this on XP and W2K clients.

A work-around is to clear the "Automatically detect settings" check box
in IE and to check it again (strange?).

Because I need a "real"-solution in our live envirnment I've checked the
following doc http://www.microsoft.com/technet/isa/2004/ts_wpad.mspx
section "Latest wpad.dat Information Is Not Being Applied"

The command "Autoproxutil /f:3" seems to solve this but where can I find
this command tool?

Are there other solutions to solve this because e.g. I'm not able to
apply a logon scritp for visitors.

Thx
