TS und Performance-Optimierung

Hallo NG,

seit ca. 1 Jahr betreibe ich einen SBS2k im produktiven Betrieb. Weil
dieses ganze Paket auf einer Maschine 2GHz CPU m. 1,5GB RAM, 7 TS User
läuft, merke ich dass das System öfters in die Knie geht.
Auf dem System laufen:
- Filedienste
- Exchange
- Printserver
- Faxserver (allerdings m. Aktiv-ISDN-Board)
- TS-User x MaWi-Programm-Sitzung auf Paradox-DB :-(

Ich denke nicht, dass gerade der RAM den Flaschenhals verursacht. Eher
die Festplattezugriffe. Da wir am Anfang den Fehler gemacht haben und
IDE Laufwerke genommen haben, möchte ich nun das Ganze auf schnellere
SCSI portieren. Dafür würde ich einen RAID Controller (vielleicht ICP)
nehmen und 2 HDDs spiegeln wg. der Sicherheit und Geschwindigkeit. RAID5
würde den Zugriff verlangsamen. SCSI will ich erstens wg. des höheren
Datendurchsatzes und zweitens der längeren MBF. Die ist zwar bei beiden
Arten von Platten ca. die gleiche, nur sie bezieht sich bei IDE auf
einen 8Std./5Tg. Betrieb, bei SCSI dagegen 24Std./7Tg. in der Woche. Und
unser Server läuft 24/7.

Nun meine Frage:
Von Exchange kenne ich es so, dass es z.B. empfohlen wird (um die
Performance zu erhöhen), die DB und Index auf 2 getrennten HDDs zu
betreiben damit der Zugriff gleichzeitig erfolgen kann.
Gibt es bei TS eine ähnliche Empfehlung, Teile des Systems oder
bestimmte Komponenten oder Verzeichnise auf getrennte Laufwerke
auszulagern, damit der Rest nicht ausgebremst wird?

Für Anregungen und Tips bin ich dankbar...
