Images onload ignoriert?

WinXP Prof, IE6 mit IE7_Pro

Problem:
bei Webseiten, die ein Vorladen von Images mit 'body onlaod ...' haben, was
bewirken soll, dass bei Mouseover Effekten das nachzuladende Image aus dem
Browsercache gelesen wird und nicht erst (neu) vom Server geholt werden
muss, wenn die Maus darüberfährt, holt sich IE trozdem immer die Images neu
vom Server, was zu deutlichen Ladezeitverängerungen bei den Mouseoverimages
führt.

Werden dieselben Webseiten mit Firefox besucht, tritt der gewünschte Effekt
ein, Firefox holt die Images nicht neu vom Server, die Imageladezeiten bei
Mouseover sind praktisch null.

Wie bekomme ich den IE dazu, die bem Seitenaufbau bereits preloaded Images
aus dem Cache zu nehmen und nicht neu vom Server zu holen, bzw. das body
onload zu beachten?
