Vielleicht kann mir auch jemand erklären, wie es zu diesem Phänomen des
anscheinend unkontrollierten Wachsens des IE Caches überhaupt kommen kann.

Wenn ich mich recht erinnere, besteht dieses Problem schon seit ewigen
Zeiten. Auf alle Fälle auch bei Windows 98 und ich glaube  auch schon bei
Windows 3.x! Wie viele Jahr(zehnt)e basteln denn die Microsoft Schwachmaten
schon an Windows und dem Internet Exploder? Und haben's immer noch nicht auf
die Reihe bekommen...



Bezüglich des Problems bin ich jetzt bei Microschrott fündig geworden:

 Ordner "Temporary Internet Files" benötigt mehr Platz als angegeben
 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;de;301057

Das Problem ist also wohl tatsächlich schon seeeeehhhhhr alt!



Und die angegebene Abhilfe funktioniert - typisch Microschrott - natürlich
nicht!

     | 6. Klicken Sie auf Ja, wenn Sie aufgefordert werden, sich abzumelden.
     | Melden Sie sich dann wieder an Windows an.

     | 7. Löschen Sie über die Option Arbeitsplatz oder den Windows Explorer
     | den alten Ordner "Temporary Internet Files" und erstellen Sie am selben
     | Speicherort einen neuen Ordner mit demselben Namen.


Blödsinnigerweise gibt Windows die Datei "index.dat" nicht wieder frei. Nicht
einmal nach einem Neustart des Betriebssystems! Und nach einer bloßen
Wiederanmeldung schon gar nicht! Daher lässt sie sich nicht löschen! Super Intelligenzleistung!

Der neue Ordner ist übrigens auf erträgliche 11 MB geschrumpft. Mit aber immer
noch 144 Dateien in 21 Unterordnern! Aber auch erst nach nochmaligem Löschen.
Vorher waren noch über 1100 Dateien drin.
