Das funktioniert nur wenn der SQL Server Browser Dienst läuft
und dieser nicht durch die Firewall blockiert wird.

Server Browser läuft und es ist ein IP basiertes Netzwerk.

Dann kann es wohl nur die XP SP2 Firewall sein. Muss mich da mal schlau machen. Danke.

und andererseits die
Bezeichnung der Datenquelle "Microsoft SQL Server (SqlClient)" ...

Über Geschmäcker lässt sich nicht streiten ;-)
Meint den nativen SqlClient Provider zur Unterscheidung der
anderen Möglichkeiten, wie Zugriff auf eine Datenbank Datei,
die Mobile Editoin oder OleDb oder Odbc Verbindung mit den
dortigen SQL Server Treibern.

Verwirrende Namensgebung seitens MS also, ach so, das übliche. Danke für das Entfernen des ersten Brettes. Leider bin ich noch mit anderen Problemen bzgl. .NET noch ziemlich "vernagelt", wird also nicht die letzte Frage gewesen sein, ihr Armen <g> ...
