Computer Shutsdown during games

howdy guys.
ive seen a few threads like this one that didnt really answer my problem.
my problem only recently started, and all it is is when i play Jedi Knight:
Jedi Academy, after about 10 min my comp shuts down. I already turned off
the auto-shut down thing ive seen a lot of posts about in case of a stop
error, but all that did was eliminate the blue screen that pops up right
before it shuts down.

Im running off a year old HP laptop that has handled this game before very
nicely.
I think its an over heating problem wince my laptop does get exceptionally
warm near the fan area, but there was nothing done to my comp to over heat it.
Celeron Processor at 2.4Ghz
Windows XP SP2
196 MB RAM
dont know what else to say.
hope you can help me
(only customization i know of to my comp is changing the video driver to
Omega Drivers, which are said to be good for gaming.)
