I recently upgraded my MB to an EPOX 8RGMI which has a C-Media 9739A
onboard sound chip. Now in Halo the option to enable hardware
acceleration is greyed out. AFAIK the chip should support it - it
passes all the DXDIAG tests and claims to support EAX so what could be
the problem?
Needless to say I've d/led the latest drivers, reinstalled the game
etc etc but no difference.
It seems weird because my old motherboard was an Asus A7N266-VM with
onboard nforce sound and I could enable Hardware acceleration on that
no problem. From the specs the newer board has better sound
capabilities.
Does anyone have any ideas before I go out and blow a load of cash on
an SBLive/Audigy to get EAX back?
Thanks
David
