DirectX 9.0b

Installing a newer Direct X version doesn't improve the
graphics of certain games.
This will only happen if your Video Card Supports
DirectX 9.0(b), --> (Radeon 9500+ / Geforce FX series)
And if the game uses Direct X 9 features.
