I am trying to play the game Dune 2000 on my computer, a
450 Mhz PII, 128mb Ram, ATI Rage Pro 8MB video card.
However, when I try to play the game, it gives me an error
that says....
"Dune 2000 requires a 256 colour desktop to run.
This video card does not support the required modes.
Insufficient RAM and/or Virtual Memory. Check Virtual
Memory settings and disk space to ensure at least 12Mb is
avilable.
File not found
Please reinstall"
I played the game on this machine before, and I have
narrowed down all the changes I have made and have
eliminated all of them except....
I downloaded DirectX 9 in order to play MMRPG's, and
subsequently had to DL a new driver with OpenGL support
for my video card.... I have come to believe that the new
video card driver is having issues with Dune 2000, so I re-
installed the old driver I had. Then I encountered the
problem that I cant seem to be able to get rid of DirectX
9.0 and install an earlier version of directX that doesnt
require OpenGL support..... I have tried DL and installing
DX 8.0, but when I run DX Diag it still says I'm using
9.0.... If anyone can help me with this I would be very
appreciative.
Thanks
