Hi Yertman,

If possible, wire your Internet feed directly to your gaming
rig, and then route the sharing from there to the other PC's.
This way, for special circumstances, you can directly connect
to the Internet, and play without experiencing any residual
issues like the ones you've described in your post.

| Hi folks,
|
| Well, I've read all the DS: LOA FAQs, been to all the forums, scoured
| the ngs,
| and read all the MS Knowledge base articles. It seems that there is a
| real issue of multiplayer over a NAT router and this game (as well as
| some other MS games).
|
| I AM HAVING THAT PROBLEM.
|
| My setup is Windows XP Pro, Speedstream 5260 DSL modem, and DS:
| Legends of Aranna, I've got a Linksys WRT54G router with the latest
| Cisco/Linksys firmware (the port "triggering" button is gone now). I
| have the following ports forwarded in the router:
|
| Start End Protocol
| 6073 to 6073 BOTH (UDP AND TCP)
| 2302 to 6073 BOTH
| 2303 to 6073 BOTH
| 47624 to 47624 BOTH
|
| They are checked and enabled...and I have my computer's local IP
| number in the IP address.
|
| However, when I go to Host a multiplayer Internet game and click host
| game, it freezes for a sec, then goes back out to the main menu. The
| same thing happens when I click to host a multiplayer Network
| game...freeze then the main menu. If I unplug my network cable or
| play on a hub, the menu moves on to the multiplayer setup screen...so
| I'm pretty sure it's my router that's fouling me up here.
|
| I've also tried using the DMZ on the Linksys router...NO DICE.
| Windows XP firewall is DISABLED, I don't have Zone Alarm or any other
| firewall running (I've tried disabling the built in Linksys Firewall
| under Security and enabled the DMZ...still no luck).
|
| Any help from someone with a Linksys router that has had success would
| be really appreciated. I'm really up against a wall here...
|
|
| TIA
