You must publish from the exact same folder that is on the web site

For some reason FP will publish the entire path from test site. I know what
to do now thanks

I did recreate the site anyway to get a clean start

You create a new website on the server.
Make a new folder (use Windows Explorer)
In the IIS MMC expand the tree on the left, right click on websites folder
and choose New website
In the property sheets point the website to the new folder, and either set
host headers or a new IP address to point to the site.
Any new IP address will have to be set up in Networking on the server, and
DNS entries made for it as well.

This is a post for the server groups and forums. Or read all the help in
the IIS MMC.

What a bone head I am on this one. You and every one else kept telling me
use Sharepoint admin and dumb me was always using sharepoint central
administration.

Then I did a check in admin tools and saw sharepoint admin and to my
amazement there it was my web site ready to be extended.

I ran the extension process but it failed. The site I created was under
the folder of wwwroot. It did not like that so I had to create my
testsite under the root of inetpub

The fpse 2002 files all appeared and my site works even the hit counter
is working now wow.

Just have one question left now

How do I publish my files into the root of the new folder I created on my
server. Reason I ask is becasue when I published from my pc it created
the folder that I had on my pc on the server. now the users would have to
type www.testsite.com/testsite

would rather have www.testsite.com

The Sharepoint Administrator is for administrating the FP 2002
extensions - not Sharepoint. Create the site in IIS and use the
Sharepoint Admin to extend the site with FP extensions.

The extensions will be installed on Port 80 - All your URLs must use
port 80 - not 81 or any other number.

Just tried creating the site in WSS CA

Still does not work I see the FPSE files now under the site

Why do we need to do this using Sharepoint? Sharepoint is not an IIS
web site manager program

IIS6 needs to have the ability to add FPSE to any web site no matter
how it is created.

If I do a New Web site in IIS6 why can I not get FPSE to work

What do I do now

Have you extended the website? Administration Tasks->Microsoft
SharePoint Administrator
And have you Allowed FrontPage extensions in the IIS Manager web
service extensions section?

I found this KB828909 online and when I searched for the
_vti_inf.html file it was not found hence Frontpage Server extensions
not installed.

But when I went into control panel and windows components
applications IIS details frontpage server extensions are checked off.

I then uninstalled FPSE and reinstalled FPSE but no luck

Wonder whats up with Windows 2003 Server

I even turned off my Kaspersky anti virus and that did not help
either

I did post something on the IIS ng

I tried windows 2003 R2, and replaced it with Windows 2003 SP1. I
could not make a web server work with R2.
Try asking in a server newsgroup, such as

To make any component that uses the FrontPage extensions work you
either have to publish using http to a server running the
extensions (NOT the folder option) or create the component on the
server - opened in FrontPage using a http:// location.

Components created on a disc-based web will not work. Components
published using FTP or to a disc based (folder option) location
will not work, even if the web server is running the extensions.
HTTP publishing changes the code in the page to point to the
correct executables on the server.

I used the folder option to publish and the FP server extensions

Is there any way to check to make sure the FP extensions are
installed. I just went into control panal add/remove Microsoft
then details on IIS and FP extensions are checked.

I even did a IIS reset on the IIS6 server

I looked in the folder _vti_cnf and the file default.htm.cnt file
exists

somewhere I read something about this folder needs ISUR_SERVER1
user with write permissions is that correct?

I tried to give ISUR_SERVER1 user write permissions but the write
persmission box is greyed out under the Deny column
I checked the write box but not sure if the deny is taking over.

ANy other ideas?
