Re: Web site on CD

The root directory is the folder that hold the entire content of the web site (folders and files).

Jimmy n christmas. I really should just write my questions and send them to
myself. I am waiting for an answer for help and I just answered my own
question !!! LOL!

I guess I was in a panic and could not "get it" -
I found this link
http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx?query=autorun&dg=microsoft.public.frontpage.client&cat=en-us-frontpage&lang=en&cr=US&pt=7d3cded1-50f4-41e1-be92-9c85367a4e28&catlist=&dglist=&ptlist=&exp=&sloc=en-us

and downloaded the shellrun. I fiddled a little and it works, my website on
the cd loads itself - no problems. I found the browserlink to be harder to
work with and launch after unzipped. So I ditched and used this one.

for the record, I still have no clue what the root directory is :)

I was able to copy all the pages ina subsite to the cd rom and I had to go
into my index.html file and switch all the links in there to the actual page
name rather than the full site name (my home pages are created with Swish) -
That all works - BUT
what doesn't work is autorun - I had to go and select a program to use to
open the disc then hunt for the "index.html" file. I think that is too much
for the average Joe to do - I did create a autrun.inf file....but it didn't
load. Sorry if I sound completely stupid...I just don't get this part. The
process I used to get the site on the cd in the first place was probably
backwards!! I copied the subsite to a new file and then I copied the
contents to the cd from there which included that autorun.inf...

:0 much help appreciated.

Need assistance please!!

My sites are unique property addresses showcasing homes for sale. I want a
Realtor to be able to leave these "cd-roms" at the house for sale so
prospective buyers can take them home and watch them on PC...I also want the
Realtor to be able to take an example of these sites to a listing
presentation to showcase what they can do for the seller to help showcase
their home.

Using the search option in the forums, I found old directions to do this
using FP 2002 but right off the bat, under Tool, Page Options, I couldn't
locate a "Compatibility" tab.

I cannot seem to wrap my brain around this task.

I did a search to see how to make a website I have created in Frontpage 2003
run on a CD. I want it to auto run and I do not understand root directory
and where i should be putting the autorun.inf file.

Okay, that was the easy question. My real question lies in actually getting
the site on the disc. I have a website structure wherein I upload lots of
"subsites" under one hosting account. I have no idea how to "publish" just a
subsite onto the disc.

I do have links in my sites to our corporate site and directions to yahoo. I
also have a slide show presentation using Photodex Gold. Will any of these
links etc work?

I also would like to know how to make the Burn directory in my C drive in
order to complete this task.

Has FP 2003 come up with an easier way to burn CD websites??

Thanks!

Yes, you can have a website operate from a CD.

Just copy all the html files, images, etc using the same directory
structure
as the html refers to (for example, if images are located in an images
directory).
