From Extensions to FTP

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I was using FP2003 for website. The server no longer supports extension so a
tech switched me to FTP. ( We no longer have a tech)

When I try to publish I get a message that 'private has too many files' (
not the exact wording of course) after waiting about 20 minutes. If I am fast
enough I can hit publish again before it quits.

I see there are server extensions and a stat file on the remote side of the
publishing page. I think this is the problem. How can I remove them from
the remote side without screwing everything up.
