Re: Windows Vista is incompatible with FrontPage and SharePoint?

Vista is a desktop operating system, an upgrade from Windows XP - Windows Server 2003 is a Server operating system, the next in line is Windows Server 2008, not Vista. Note that IIS7 in Vista will only support 10 connections - the same as Windows XP - whereas IIS6 or IIS7 in server OSs will support any number of connections.
Server extensions for Vista and Windows Server 2008 are available: for details see http://blogs.iis.net/bills/archive/2007/10/03/frontpage-server-extensions-fpse-for-iis7-rc0-released.aspx
SharePoint Services can only be installed on a Windows server OS, such as Windows 2003 or Windows Server 2008.

I recently upgraded my PC for testing my Web sites from Windows XP to Windows
Vista. Unfortunately that meant having to remove SharePoint Team Services and
FrontPage Server Extensions 2002 from my PC. Worse yet, I cannot install
Windows SharePoint Services version 2 - due to compatibility - or even
version 3 - it simply refuses to install; although it says that I need to
have Windows Server 2003 (version 5.2) or later, it refuses to install on
Windows Vista (which is version 6 and which was made after Windows Server
2003). This means that FrontPage cannot any longer create Web sites on a Web
server, and Web sites cannot any longer create server extensions (SharePoint
Team Services or FrontPage Server Extensions) dependent content or items like
"Web components." Does anyone know a solution or an upgrade for the server
extensions? Please note that I am not interested in getting answers like
"just upgrade to SharePoint Designer" or the even more annoying "you can
still use FrontPage, but you will not be able to use server extensions
dependent components." I need something better than that, an answer that
would actually contain something useful.
