Re: The future of FrontPage Server Extensions

I am assuming that spd is not intended for use with sharepoint portal server?
only sharepoint services? So If I have several hundred frontpage web sites
that I manage with the frontpage interface will I be able to manage them with
the expression web software?

Expression Web is designed not need or use the FP extensions, however if you open a site that is
using the extensions, then it will work with them and you can manage, but not add content that
currently uses the extensions.

SPD is designed to work with SharePoint on a Windows 2003 and later version servers.

So am I to understand that the sharepoint developer and the expression will
work on the same server? We have Fp Extentions version 2002 which of course
is the latest. what is necessary for ongoing support of Expression and SPD on
the server? Just .net 2.0 or now 3.0? and do you have to tell the individual
website to use .net instead of frontpage extentions? Can you refer me to some
documentation on how to setup the server? We have over 400 websites using fp
extentions. I have not been able to find much documentation on the backend
server side of this conversation.

The FP server extensions will support Expression and SPD. Depending on the
FPSE versions, as to what features will be supported.

You can also use FTP if you choose not to use the FPSE.

Does anyone know what is necessary to get an IIS server with FrontPage
server
extensions 2002 ready to support Web Expression or sharepoint designer?
will
they work on the same server? or are they intirely different
applications?
