If you can open the text file via a link, then the permissions are not correct, which is why you
need to work with your host to correct.
To open a site:
File Menu | Open Site and enter http://www.yourdomainname.com then your login info, then click Ok,
then Click Open / Ok.

Thank you Thomas. I did email my host over the weekend and should get a
response today or tomorrow, so hopefully they will do the health check.
For your #2 below, I was able to just go to
www.mydomain.com/_private/form_results.txt and open it in Internet Explorer
and it did contain the information. However, how do I open the live website
(which I assume you mean on my ISP site, not my own hard drive), in FP? This
is probably a dumb question but I can't find the option to open anything but
my own site on my own hard drive in FP itself.

1. You host need to run a server health check and let FP correct the permissions. However FP
create
the path to the _private, do not change.
2. You have to open the live site in FP to view the text file.

Thanks for the response. I tried setting the location of the text file to
_private/form_results.txt
It still asked me for the userid and password and it does update the file,
but it does not download the file back to me. Should the path above indicate
the full path with domain to bypass the userid/password request?

ISP side - the form data needs to be stored in the _private folder which by default should
have
write permissions.
To access the text file you have to open the site in FP, then open the file in Notepad.

I have a form I am trying to set up that is supposed to send me an email of
the information on the form and send the information to a text file.
The email part is now working but only if I put in my website userid and
password. Obviously this will not be known by users so I want the email to
happen without password protection. There is no password protection on my
site at all.
Is this something at my ISP side or is there something I can do?
Also, I have the information sent to a text file. I had expected the text
file to download back to my system with a new publish but that is not
happening. How do you normally access these files? Do I just go to the link
for the file via Explorer? The info is there when I do this.
TIA
