Re: unable to publish to local IIS

I did as suggested when I type "http://my_desktop"; fp ask for credentials,
but I can see behind a monitor and a computer icon saying "connecting to web
server".

I guess now the issue is to avoid the credential screen to access the server.

as allways thank you again Thomas.

Run again, and allow FP to tighten security.

The open http://My_Desktop in FP, create a folder called Romet, then right click and select convert
to web.

Ok, then you are working with the FP2000 extensions.

Under IIS, right click on the default web, then All Tasks and see if the extensions are applied.

No, do not attempt to launch FP from the Server Extensions Console.

How did you install the extensions on IIS and where did you get them from?

Thomas, I never tried to open the Romet Web trough c:/inetpub/webroot/romet,
the problem is that I can't open or publish to http://localhost/Romet.

probably this fact would help, if I go to the fp Server Extensions Console
and right click over Romet(subweb) and click again over "open with fp", I get
a message stating:

"You need to install the FronPage client software to open a web with
FrontPage"

it appears that the server extensions are not aware of the FrontPage Install.

Thank you again for your suggestions.

The problem is that FrontPage reports an error when I try to open the web
with the alias of c:/inetpub/webroot/romet which is http://localhost/Romet.

So as expressed now I am saving to c:/documents/mywebsite/romet hopfully in
a temporary basis, until a solution is find.

Thank you again

C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Romet and http://localhost/romet both point to the same exact
location
on
your
HD, the only different is the C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Romet is opening the site as
disk-based
and
http://localhost/romet as server-based. Since you have a server, then is better to open
and
work
on
the site as server-based.

You can always publish to a disk-based location as backup from the server location by,
for
example,
publishing to c:\romet.

working off line and uploading has been the way of FrontPage and most web
design programs, besides a backup is always a safeguard.

What puzzels me is why I can't do now what I was doing before, and what my
son's laptop is steel doing now?

Thomas, I did as instructed, I rename the web romet.us to romet in the IIS
console, I am still getting the same error.

If I click on "Browse" on the "Remote Web Site Properties" screen to locate
my web through my network places in the "New Publish Location Screen" where
now lists as "romet on my desktop" I am getting like berfore, the same error
screen. "unable to open. . . etc."

Your help is very welcome

Rename or recreate your subweb / subsite without the .us then you should be

Then thereafter you should just work directly in the server based web
(http://my_desktop/romet)
and
not the disk based web
