Re: FP 2003 message: An error occurred accessing Windows Sharepoint Services site files.

Hi Jim:
I also Googled and could only find references to Windows Server 2003. I am
getting this error message on my own PC, running Windows XP Pro, IIS 5.1 and
the FPSE 2002.

I have been following this post because I have been having the same issue
for a long time. It started the day I applied Sp1 on the Windows 2003
server. I have rebuilt the server, and have no problems until I apply SP1.

I don't think the issue here is the Anti-virus software.

I googled this and found that there are a lot of other people having the
exact same problem. Is Micrsoft going to address it?

Cool. Try turning off the Worm Protection.

I'm running Windows XP Pro with SP2 and FP 2003 with the most recent
set of Microsoft updates.

Recently I've started receiving the following message:

"An error occurred accessing your Windows Sharepoint Services site
files. Authors - if authoring against a Web server, please contact the
Webmaster for this server's Web site. WebMasters - please seee the
servers's application event log for more details."

Well, the web sites that I'm getting this error message are running
locally (http://machine_name/site_name) and this message pops up when
I try to open a site, or when I attempt to edit pages, or when I
attempt to publish changes to the remote site, or even if I try to
look at the Tools.. Site Settings.

Needless to say, most of the articles I've seen on Google refer to a
Windows Server issue - and that's not the case with this local
workstation.

To further confuse the issue, I don't know what "server's application
event log" this message is referring to.

Does anyone have any idea of a) what caused this to start happening
and b) some mechanism to correct it?

Thanks!
