Re: Can't publish to localhost IIS with FPSE 2002

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

That's what I did last night. Everything worked fine until I installed the
FPSE 2002 - then it broke again.

Start over...

Remove IIS and the FP2002 extensions.

Reboot...

Install IIS and the FP2000 extensions

Test that you can connect/publish, etc. via IE and FP

Then you can upgrade to the FP2002 extensions.

I installed IIS from the XP Pro CD with the 2002 extensions. I found that
some features required FPSE 2002. I uninstalled IIS and reinstalled
without
the FPSE 2000. I then installed FPSE 2002. Now I cannot publish and I
am
having the problems with FPSE Admin related functions that I described in
my
initial post.

Was this the correct installation sequence? Should FPSE be installed on
top
of the FPSE 2000?

TIA.

I have installed IIS on my development machine (XP Pro) as a test web
server.
I have also installed FPSE 2002. It appears to have installed
successfully,
but FP will not publish to the server. FP tells me that it is "Unbale
to
open "http://localhost";. Possible causes: 1...FPSE may not be
installed. 2.
Web server may be out of service. 3. Proxy problems 4.an error in the
server. " I could publish before FPSE, and IE can open the
localstart.asp
page that is automatically installed, so IIS seems to be working.

There is some FPSE weirdness happening, though:
- IIS MMC Check Server Extensions shows no errors, but Check Server
Extensions 2002 tells me "You are not authorized to view this page"
for
http://felix/_vti_bin/_vti_adm/fpadmdll.dll?page=health.htm. (Felix
is the
name of the computer. )
- I also get "...not authorized..." when I try to open SharePoint
Administrator in Admin Tools for http://felix/_sharepoint/fpadmdll.dll
- IIS MMC Default Web Site/Properties/Server Extensions 2002/settings
also
gives me "...not authorized..." for
http://felix/_sharepoint/fpadmdll.dll?page=genset.htm&port=/LM/W3SVC/1

It sound like a permissions problem, but I do not know how to fix it.
Any
ideas?

Thanks!
