No, sharepoint does not need to be installed.

One thought - if your web is in a Virtual folder then that may be why
the extensions do not work. The folder has to be *in* the default web
(as a subweb) for it to appear as a folder in the default web.
To avoid using a subweb set up a virtual server, not a virtual folder.

- Server Extensions are 'Allowed'
- I also tried to 'Allow' all of those available
- I also restarted the server after each change
- Server roles: File, Application (NOT MAIL, I point to my Internet
connection's SMTP server)

However, I do NOT believe that I have SharePoint installed (unless I

by accident). Does this have to be installed?

I will also try to move my web. I've had bad luck when I have tried

the web as a disc based web has corrupted part of the extensions.

FYI, on Windows 2003, I never use the default web, always leaving
it
as set by Windows IIS installation, and create virtual servers for
all
my sites.

Note: where you see click on Virtual Servers -> Default web site
Administration
click on your own website instead of the Default web site.

I can't seem to post a new question, so I'll try a reply here.
- Win2003 Server w/ FP2003 and 2002 Extensions installed
- Email set up through administration appears to be set..

- 'thisweb' is set up as a virtualy web under default web
- I do get the component error message in FP2003
I'm also getting this problem, and I can't get it to go away.
I've
always
opened as 'disc based', pointing to c:\web\thisweb. Your
response
indicates
that this is an incorrect way if I want to test my forms. For
kicks
I tried
to open http://machinename/thisweb, but it failed as not found.
Am I just simply missing something obvious or is it something
else?
