Re: FrontPage Extension

Even though others may not recommend it, I always uninstall the FP 2000 SE before I install the FP 2002 SE
Try starting fresh
In Control Panel - Add Remove Programs
- Uninstall the FP 2002 SE
- In Add/Remove Windows Components unselect IIS to remove it
- Restart your system
In Control Panel - Add Remove Programs
- In Add/Remove Windows Components select IIS and in details unselect the FP 2000 SE
(also any services you won't be using in Win XP Pro (say FTP & SMTP)
- Restart your system
- Check that IIS is running in IIS MMC then close the snap in
(Start - All Programs - Administrative Tools - IIS)
- Reinstall the FP 2002 SE from the down load page and then restart
version 5.0.2.2623 followed by version 5.0.2.4803 from
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnservext02/fpse2002win.asp
- Open the IIS snap in again and under the root web right click to check All task to see if you need to Apply/Extend the FP SE
(under properties you should also now have a FP 2002 SE Tab and in Start - All Programs - Administrative Tools - you should have a
SharePoint Admin option)

Test it by opening FP and your FP 2002 SE server based web using File Open site and entering http://localhost/

PS
You can publish your old disc based web to http://localhost/ in FP and test the Discussion web there
- but you must publish that server extended web to an online hosted server w/ the FP SE for anyone else to use it

| Dear Stefan B Rusynko,
|
| 1) After installing Frontpage Server Extensions 2002, a window pops up
| saying that "the saerver administrator and the server extensions on the web
| server are not compatible." The administrator program is too old to old to
| use with this server." For your info, the IIS installed in the administrator
| tools is IIS V5.1.
|
| 2) Anyway I hit the ok button and the frontpage extensions installation was
| complete. Under administrator tools --> I found a internet shortcut called
| Microsoft Sharepoint Administrator and when I click it, this happens--->
|
| You are not authorized to view this page
| You do not have permission to view this page using your current user account.
| Please try the following:
| â?¢ If you have another user account with a higher level of permission, click
| your browser's Back button to try again using that account.
| â?¢ If you believe you should be able to view this page, contact the Web site
| administrator.
|
| Does this problem got anything to do with Anonymous Access and
| Authentication control? I have set the user name as administrator/servername
| and checked "Anonymous Access"and unchecked "Allow IIS to control password."
| The computer is login to administrator account.
|
| I created the forum page using the Frontpage wizard with the discussion
| template. It didn't include or create any database files for me. Could that
| be another reason why I am facing this problems. Please kindly advice. Many
| thanks.
|
| Regards,
| Shay
