What you need to do is 1) create a Virtual Web Server (VWS) for your site,
using a reserved IP address, or host headers off the default web site, 2)
extend it with whatever FPSE you wish to use, 3) configure your site to use the
FPSE and 4) publish your site there. After getting your site setup and
configured, you need to use the Indexing Manager to create a catalog,
specifically not contained in the physical file tree of your site, and set it
to track your site. After this, you can create a new page, drop the search
component onto the page, fill in the search form properties, and publish it to
your site.
Instructions for all of these steps are contained in the help files of either
FrontPage, the IIS Management Console, or the Indexing Console. Do read about
them first. The hardest one to find may be how to reserve your IP address for
your new VWS. I can't be more specific because you have not said what versions
of the various pieces of software you will be using.
