IIS and Frontpage security

I am reposting this question from the
microsoft.public.inetserver.iis.security at the suggestion of one the
posts I received. Any help would be appreciated.

I am trying allow my web master to configure a website through
Frontpage. When I log in as an administrator I can edit the webpage
without any issues. When my webmaster attempts to get in, Frontpage
keeps asking for the username and password. The webmaster has full
control of the website directory (d:\website on the web server)and I
checked the permissions in IIS and the webmaster has full control of
the site as well. I checked the Frontpage server extensions 2002 and
the webmaster has administrator rights. I temporarly gave the
webmaster admin rights and she successfully logged in. I would prefer
not giving the webmaster admin rights. I must be missing something
simple. The web server is a Windows 2003 server running IIS 6. Any
assistance would be appreciated.

The user should not need elevated NTFS permissions, just the necessary
level
of permissions inside the FPSE administration website.

Can you provide more detailed steps indicating what permissions the
particular Windows account has? (eg to verify that the Windows account
has
the appropriate permissions, where did you go? -or- How did you setup
the
permissions for this particular Windows account in FPSE?)

This sounds like incorrect settings in the FP Administration site.
Normally you don't need to change permissions in NTFS or IIS for this,
just in FP. Try a FrontPage group for details and help there.

I would open Sharepoint Administrator and choose the administration of
my website (www.website.com for example). I would then go into
Mangage users|add a user and enter my user information
(domain\webmaster) in the Add user or group name (For example,
DOMAIN\name). I would choose the administrator role and click on add
user. As I mentioned earlier, the user has Full Control rights to the
website directory on the server.

I then try to go into Frontpage and access the website. A username
and password prompt come up and I would try the webmaster account.
The user name and password prompt would keep coming back unless I
would use my domain admin account. At that point I can get in and
administer the website.
