First, *don't* use FTP - unless of course your server does not have the FP extensions installed.

HOW are you working...are you talking about your local (on your hardrive) web? Or are you trying to work live...directly on the server.

It kinda sounds like you are working on your local machine's copy *without* having first created a Web.

Describe how you are working.
