Paul,

If the host allows you to store the database outside of the web root, then they have to give you FTP
access to upload the database to the folder.

FP can not access in content outside the web root (extensions are installed).

If you choose to keep the database in the web, then let FP create the fpdb folder and store the
database within the fpdb folder.
