Are you allowing WS-FTP to access the net - your firewall might be blocking it?

You should be able to transfer files either way - to the server or from the
server, as long as your firewall rules allow you to if you have the correct
permissions in place.

Since you've said you transfer files with WS-FTP, this looks like a WS_FTP (or
firewall) problem; you might also try a firewall/internet security group (e.g.
comp.security.firewalls) discussion group or a group for WS-FTP itself (can't
find any of these on my news-server).

It seens that it is not a Frontpage problem if you're using WS_FTP to publish
files - you've already said "it must be done with WS_FTP".

Which program is generating the message about "Failed Port" - your firewall,
frontpage or WS-FTP?
