Not a direct reply to you, Crash, but a response to some of the attitudes
displayed in this thread....

For example - "You can apply any extension you wish to a web page" (GEEZ! No
sh*t Sherlock - I guess that must be it. Case closed), implying that my
explanation of the facts was invalid and there is no other possible
explanation for a "do" extension.

I'm certainly no *nix or Open Sores advocate. In fact, if MS acheived the
legendary WORLD DOMINATION you often hear about, I'd be happy as a clam.

But, the mocking responses to Crash's question, and the failure to recognize
that there are, in fact, other competing technologies is disturbing.
Particularly with Microsoft's browser now nearing 4 years in age -- and
increasingly becoming the browser to work around - , and IIS and every
Windows OS being suspect it's surprising that so-called professionals are so
narrow minded and/or ignorant.

The reality is that people, not just techie types, are really growing weary
of the unending patches, updates and fixes that are neccessary to simply do
day-to-day computing tasks. I had to replace a hard drive on my lapttop, and
it took 2 friggin' hours to download and install all the "Critical Updates"
for XP via an unpatched version of IE since that is the only browser that
can access Windows Update - Now there's a warm fuzzy for ya. And, no, the RC
patch is not an option for my production machines.

Ballmer's "Developers, Developres, Developers" is a joke. Although DotNet is
a really cool technology, releasing a non-backward compatible revision a
couple of years after the initial release, followed by yet another
non-backward compatible revision a couple years after that (maybe) doesn't
make me believe that MS interseted in anything more squeezing a few more $$$
out of their "Developers, Developres, Developers". It's hard enough keeping
up with the changes without having our wallets drained in the process.

Over the last 10 years I have spent thousands of dollars buying MS software,
attending their workshops, and acquiring training in the use of their
products. I have no plans to spend another dime. Unless MS, and its
advocates, open their eyes to the fact that people have had enough, an
almost certain deterioration in their user base, and their developers'
income is gauranteed.

If you would like, you can flame me in private -
http://www.activeinet.com/flame.aspx (No FP Bots were injured creating this
form). You don't need to leave an email address (unless you want a response)
or name and can engage in any unMVPlike conversation you desire. Or flame me
here in the group - Makes no difference to me.
