Oh, I got it completely wrong then, I thought the DNS system worked a little
differently. To access someone's site I thought, or assumed I suppose is a
better word, your browser had to first access the country's TLD server (your
registrar or something like that) to find out the DNS address of that web
site and then after it knows where it is, take the quickest route from you
machine to access the site. I thought this because many ip address' here in
NZ start with 203.xxx... or 20x.xxx.. and when you change the NS records of
a .nz TLD it normally takes only a very short time to see it resolved.
Perhaps it is only resolved on NZ servers in a very short time but takes
more time to get to the rest of the world. I just thought that the
registrars in the US didn't update their records as much as the ones here
and that's why it takes a couple of days. With what you are saying, that
means every DNS server has the ip address of every web site in the world -
wow massive!

I still would like to be able to transfer files from one site to another
without going through my machine but I don't know much about the DNS stuff
so I will have to forgive FP for not letting it happen. I would also like to
flap my arms and fly but that's not going to happen either. Somethings I
just have to accept.
