Talking to Earthlink's web hosting tech support (and customer
relations) has been one of the worst support experiences I've ever
suffered through. I've spent literally hours on the phone and got
nothing accomplished. The people were courteous and apologized
regularly and liberally, but they absolutely refused to take any
responsibility for the problems I've been experiencing. I can't even
back up the site, and they refuse to do it for me (as some of the
other hosts I deal with do as a matter of course). I spoke to
technicians at all levels of their heirarchy, and it always seemed as
if they were working from a script. One senior techie told me that
Earthlink would like to get out of the web hosting business, although
customer support people I mentioned this to deny it. I'm sure
Earthlink is a reliable ISP, but as a web hosting service, they are
inept, disdainful of their customers, and far too expensive. Thanks
for this opportunity to make this ringing endorsement. :)
