>Where are you seeing IIS as being shaded?
in Add\Remove Programs in the Windows Components Window
where those programs on machine are clicked - the IIS is
clicked but shaded and when you click on details, the
World Wide Web Service under subcomponents is also
clicked but shaded.

I do not think I know how to enter IIS MMC - (I entered
Performance and Maintenance...the Administrative
Tools ... then IIS ...then I can see my root web -name of
computer? - and when I can right click on my root web for
computer and get an ALL TASKS option the 2 choices are:
restart the program and backup or restore configuration.
Neither option has seemed to help my situation :(
I am unable to open the default web here anymore as it
says unable to find server now whereas before it was
opening fine in browser and through Frontpage but got the
error message when trying to publish.
I am sure it must be supremely frustrating to help folks
through this stuff but believe me I appreciate it!
