The same thing happened to me. I set up a form on a new web that should send data input to an email address. I have done this before with no problem, but now I get the same error message you got. Another web I set up weeks ago using this same proceedure works fine. I am not sure I know the right log to check. I checked the logs on my server via ftp, and even changed the premission setting to RW hoping that might help, but it didn't. Let me know if you figure out how to fix this.
