Re: Update links outside a subweb when a file or folder is renamed with Add-in

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Providing that the links are also within the current open FP rootweb or subweb. FP can not manage
links that cross between the rootweb and subwebs or between subwebs.

You do realize that: that is an automatic function in FrontPage??
If you rename any file or folder when in folder view, you will be prompted to allow FP to update
all links that contain that file or folder name.
(Providing that the links are "Not" contained in a javascript link )

Good morning,

I'm going to have to begin renaming the file structure of a website
that is comprised of a dozen sub-webs. I need to ensure that links and
src attributes are updated when I rename a directory or file name. I
am able to save all links and src attributes throughout the entire
website to a database, and I would like to create a Frontpage add-in
that would fire when a folder or file name is renamed, scan the
database for associated links, and then update any pages with inbound
links or src's.

The part I'm stuck on is I don't know how to trap for an event when a
folder or file is renamed. Is there an event available for this
purpose? Is there comprehensive documentation about the Frontpage
document model and how to use it somewhere? I'm having a hard time
tracking any good information down...

Many thanks,

Chris
