I know you can see them. Nobody else can, though....

Hi Murray,
No I am not using "Hover Buttons". Yes I gave up on them years ago!! I
have several Java Applets that I got independently and they work fine on
my site. However if you modify any text in the applets scroll you must
preview it first then save it. I don't know why but that always worked.
Further I can view the applets on my site when viewing the remote site.
When I try to preview them in any browser loading the page from "my"
computer rather than from the web, IE6 goes ballistic and gives me the
information toolbar that blocks java applets. When I give it permission I
then get a blank box. If I should view the applet on the published web
page I view it without problems. I have tried to turn off this security
feature even lowering my security to none without success.

You are now seeing what most (all) of your visitors see. The Java
engine hasn't been a part of Windows since W2K, I believe - perhaps even
WMe. You will only see Java Applets if you go to Sun's site and download
and install the engine. In other words, 99% of the surfing public
cannot see them. This is why you should not use FP's hover buttons,
too....

Hi
I have been using this java applet for several years. I cannot now
"preview" it in any browser. Nor can I preview it in the page setting
in FP2003. In IE6 the security bar comes on and after being required
to respond twice the applet comes up with a blank.
I tried to turn the security info bar off via tools/security/ but no
luck. I can view Java applets on my site when viewing remotely. Any
ideas?
Using FR2003 with XP Prof SP2
Thanks,
Brian
