I just purchased FrontPage 2003 to create a web site for my family.
I have several videos to put on the web site.
I have used the add-in for Windows Media Player.
I followed the instructions and have not been able to get the test video to
work from the outside.
After inserting the WMP on my web page I can play it typing 'localhost' and
'http://my ip address.
Using another workstation on my internal network and typing 'http://my ip
address' the pages on the web site display and do all that is asked except
play the video. The error is always the same. 'Can not find the specified
file'.
Using a HyperLink, setting the target to the same video and the target
window to 'New Window'. Trying the new page I get these results. WMP opens in
a new windows, buffering starts and then stalls at 1% or 3%. This the result
I get using the embedded or hyperlink from other computers on the network or
computers outside from the real internet.
Another interesting experience is while in frontpage if I select the
hyperlink and choose 'Follow hyperlink', my 3D Max starts and gives the error
'Can not open file'. I have checked my file associations a hundred times and
'wmv' has no other associations other than the WMP.
The really fustrating thing about all this is before I installed the WMP
add-ins I could play this video without problems. Only internally, but didn't
have any problems.
My system is as follows.
WinXP Pro with SP2.
I have a local intranet connected through a router to the outside world. I
have a 2mb DSL connection.
TIA
