    1. contact your isp, make sure it has front page extensions, and make sure
they are "activated" for your specific webspace

    2. your page with the counter on it must be "published" to a http address,
(using frontpage presumably, since this is a frontpage discussion group) and
not ftp'ed to a ftp site (eg. using wsftp, etc. - ftp'ing the page will
corrupt the file and the counter won't show

    3. to publish just the page with the counter to your site, and not your
    whole site:

    a. in frontpage, open the page on your site with the counter on it, to do
this you must log on to your website using username and password (username
is often webmaster) or create a page with a counter on it; to add a counter
to a page in frontpage 2003, for instance, go to insert, web component,
click on hit counter in the left column, then choose the style and other
    variables in the right column

    b. go to file, save as, and enter the address you are publishing to, eg.
    http://www.sitenamehere.com/index.htm
(or instead of /index.htm, whatever the page name is within your site the
    counter will be on)

    c. you may also need to go to tools, page options, authoring (a tab), and
uncheck share point services and vml graphics (this last step is from memory
    so may not apply)
