Re: Missing VFP9.0 print jobs

Guten mittag Vera ;)
Gruss von ein Hollander in Tsjechien...

At the moment I'm stuck with the problem.
After some discussions we have decided to purchase XFRX and use XFRX as
printing engine. For that, we need to work around the "stretch with
overflow" option, whichs basically needs some fields in some reports to be
modfied from <fieldname> to left(<fieldname>, x). We can live with that and
we hope the Czech producer of XFRX will someday solve that -> he is
informed.

However, it makes me curious what could cause this problem. We have changing
results, depending on printers and reports. Currently I suspect the VFP
printing engine to miscommunicate (protocol problem) with a printer driver
in specific situations (specific items in layout). This could then either be
a VFP printing engine problem or a printer driver problem. Printing to this
printer from f.e. MS Office or any other type of software is no problem, so
the VFP printing engine is the most likely to cause it. However, VFP9.0 SP1
is just released, doesn't address this problem, so it would take months for
MS to make a solution - in a next SP - available. I have lost a couple of
working days on this issue and don't have months to wait, so I take the most
practical and reliable solution, which is XFRX. Advantage of XFRX is that
PDF/HTML (and more) export is really nice, for a reasonable price.

If I should receive new info related to this matter, I will of course post
it into this group. If you would like to receive email instead, notify me by
email.

Kind regards,
Nico
