    Your suggestion to clean up the project probably would have worked. But before I saw your reply, a coworker suggested PACK DATABASE (which is part of what the cleanup does), and that worked. Odd that a "valid" but "dirty" database would cause such a problem, but to warp an old quote, who knows what evils lurk deep in the heart of FoxPro?
