Why not use VFP to automate a mail merge using Word?

Hi All,
I need advice,
I would like to add mail merge to our application in a similar fashion to a contact manager
(send to one or group from user created forms)
this application is distributed to a few hundred people
there is virtually no control over the people's setup other than windows xp,2000,vista
I know I can use Word automation but I feel that using that would lead to lots of support calls due to the data source attachment required and the different versions of word and user caused problems
I would like recommendations of the best approach to take that minimizes coding and problems
In another thread, Jeff Grippe recommended TEEDIT for a rich text editor, which might be an option.
