Hi Dan
No - I have discovered that it is not a timing problem at all but something to do with ms-tnef
Some clients (and internal staff) are using outlook express or windows live mail which doesn't support tnef
I am not sure of the workaround for this but would welcome any suggestions
Cheers

This is sounding more and more like some kind of throttle imposed by your ISP or your Exchange server..
Many ISPs (rightly) impose limits on outgoing email, either in the numbers sent in a certain period or the volume of data sent in a certain period. This is an effort to discourage SPAM.
Since you can observe this phenomenon internally, and re-send works after the first send failed, I'd talk to your Exchange administrator. I think (s)he needs to teach that server some manners! And if that's not it, I'd still bet on the ISP. Most will work with you.

Yes I am using outlook with exchange server
but this is not a consistent error - most people get their
attachments and some don't - yet if it is re-sent it goes through ok

Heya John -
I would bet that your VFP-Outlook set is ok, and there's something
strange happeneing
past the Outlook component.
Is your outlook mail program feeding into an exchange server, or
something else?
These clients that aren't receiving your attachments, are they
receiving other vendors' attachments
in emails? If not, then the problem is on their side, their email
server configuration, and not yours.
When you attempt a manual send from outlook to one of the 'problem'
clients - does the file attachment
arrive or no ?
Regards [Bill]

I have a routine that sends a number of statements by email to a
number of
clients (up to 1000)
The statements may have up to 6 separate pdf's attached and a
number of jpg's
The batch routine that sends these works fine but a number of
clients are reporting that they are not getting the attachments
When I check the sent items, the emails are all there and properly
formed with the attachments in place
If a client who has this problem returns the email to me there is no
attachment.
I have set the switch in outlook to not send immediately in the
hopes of being able to review and then send from the outbox after
the vfp process was complete but this does not seem to prevent the
immediate sending of emails. It seems to me to be a timing thing and that a lag should be placed
in the
process in order to allow outlook to properly form the email
message before sending it.
If I use the win api sleep function to provide that lag time, does
this allow for other event steams to continue while it waits - or
would the inkey() function be better?
Has anyone else experienced this problem and found another solution?
Any help appreciated
