Limited user accounts can't write to Program Files under XP. The problem is, we've become accustomed to everyone running as Administrator.
You *can* place your application in it's own folder under the root and run it from there. But you will have to decide if it's worth the risk to your customers and your company should your application be the cause of attached malware. Just because it hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't (it also doesn't mean it will). But, malware authors are becoming smarter and with restrictions on Windows and Program Files folders, one tactic I can see them doing is looking for EXEs in other folders and attaching to them.

So what used to be a fast and silent upgrade will now require an installer to run?
And I'm supposed to provide an Administrator password to every user so that they can run it? How secure is that?
