One of my clients just got a new Vista machine. VFP-based application is on Vista machine. But it’s very slow to access dbf files on the server from Vista machine. But it’s very quick from XP machines. Any ideas? TIA.
What are the specs of the Vista machine? I am running Vista on both my personal laptop and my Desktop work computer (32 and 64 bit version respectively) and while it's a little slower (for some things more than others) Vista is slower with the same hardware specs VS XP. I have 1GB RAM on both computers with 2.8 Ghz processors on both. For network stuff, I find it seems to be about 10% slower, but for local stuff, currently I find about 50% slower, I expect that to change when I upgrade the RAM in both cases to 2GB in the near future, as the OS takes about double the resources itself compared to XP. I would recommend 1GB RAM minimum rather than the 512 MS states.
