Hi Anders,
That seems to be The solution if
I don't want to rewrite my exe.
I install all Vfp runtimes, place my exe on the server
together with my vfp tables and run through TS my
exe. (and all i get on the client side is a screen)
Just wonder how fast that is over VPN ...?

christophe

Terminal Server let's your clients use a VFP database on server. The
server runs n copies of the application that all use the same VFP
database. Or SQL Server if you like.

Hi Bill
It's "simple".
I have a rather big exe (what is big of course...)
which uses about 40 table and 100 forms and a bunch of reports.
This is running on 3 different locations each has his own server.
VPN is set between the locations
to retrieve from those 3 locations all necessary data
for the accounting department
This is working very well.
I don't use any odbc, oledb or whatever it is called.
Just file sharing with vfp build-in record locking.
I simple open a table located on a mapped drive
change what is needed, close it and so on.
I have tried to map a remote serverdrive over the VPN
and that is working but far to slow. Because 3 tables
are rather big (250Mb/table) and some of my routines
need to lookup all the data.
To make a long story short ... because there is a lot more involved.
I don' t really want to rewrite my whole exe because there is no money
for it
and I'm the only programmer for this job.
I'm looking for an easy way to put my exe on only on server where
all users can have access to.
One solutions that I was thinking of is Terminal Server.
Although I have looked at your excelent sites
I don't think that is what i'm looking for at the moment,
because and correct me if i'm wrong, this mean a rewrite of my exe
to make it client-server based.

christophe

Have you looked at Fox# (Sharp) from
www.foxaccelerated.com ? They are releasing a smart client RSN.
But - I'm really not sure EXACTLY what you mean by
'run a VFP9 app over the internet'
as there are many ways to do the thing,
click the first link below, review the stuff on the upper left panel.

Hi,
Is there a way to run a Vfp9 app over the internet
without rewriting it (or at least not much) ?
