Memo fields don't display properly in VFP 9.0 runtime (sometimes)

I have an application I've been using for years that stores information
in tables. Almost all of these tables have memo fields, and I've started
using VFP 9.0 for this application because of the nice mouse-over memo
display feature. The application was written in FPW 2.6, and maintains
2.6 compatibility, however I usually run it in VFP. Have used 5.0, 6.0,
7.0, and recently, 9.0.
A few days ago I compiled this into an EXE that I run from an automation
utility. Works fine, except that a certain table's memo fields don't
display properly. The mouse-over display looks fine, but when I double
click on a memo field, all I see is the first 4 or so characters of each
line and they angle up toward the upper right corner of the screen at
about a 30 degree angle!! Yes, this is bizarre! Can anyone comment on
this peculiar activity and what I might do to alleviate it? Is this
simply a bug in VFP 9.0? Thanks for any help.
Dan
