Get file from URL

Hi all,

Is there a way, given a URL, to get the resulting file to your hard drive?
I'm basically trying to let the user enter a value, build the corresponding
URL using that value then save the resulting text file to disk rather than
having it displayed in the browser object.

TIA,

John
