Stopping Outlook from Opening

i wrote the code to open up an instance of Outlook to send an e-mail from my
form. thats fine, it opens it even if there is an instance of it open.
however if i send and send and send as i pass through the form i will open up
an instance everytime i push my "send mail" button. i dont know for sure what
to do in order to look to see if its already open, and then not open up
another instance. in otherwords, only open it if its not.
